In Kata, get to Baan Khao Soi for khao soi before 7pm. In Patong, you get halal-sourced Thai until 2AM at Took Took Prime, where Khao Soi Chicken is THB 290. In Rawai, La Salada's mixta paella for two is THB 1,290, and in Old Town, order Toh Daeng's chicken massaman.
Start with the area where you sleep, then read its section. Each one names two or three places, with what to order and when to go.

Get to Baan Khao Soi before 7pm, because the pot runs out in the early evening. This is the place for northern Thai khao soi, made with products imported from Chiang Mai. Order it with chicken or beef. Leave Sunday out of your plans, as it opens 11AM-8PM Mon-Sat and closes on Sunday.
For a sit-down dinner with a singer, head to Cattleya, where live music plays every evening from 19:00 to 22:00. The kitchen cooks Thai and international dishes, and the doors stay open 11AM-11PM daily. For a quiet dinner, choose somewhere else during those music hours.
When hunger hits late in Patong, go to Took Took Prime, open 12PM-2AM daily and air-conditioned throughout. The meat is halal-sourced and no dish has pork. On the menu, Pad Thai Tiger Prawn is THB 420 and Khao Soi Chicken is THB 290. Walk in on other nights, but book for Friday and Saturday, and expect a 5% service charge.
Plan Grandma Homemade Thai food for lunch or an early dinner, since it is open 10AM-7PM daily. Your reward is a hilltop view with cheap Thai plates. Be ready for the last stretch, though: it is a bumpy gravel road, hard going for low cars.

Come to Rawai View for sunset: this beachfront cafe and restaurant has one of the best sea views in Rawai. It is open 10AM-10PM daily.
In Chalong, the dish to order at Bucha Gallery and Restaurant is the massaman curry. Note the Monday closure; on other days it opens 11AM-10PM, Tue-Sun.
Book Toh Daeng ahead, because there are just 3 communal tables. You eat Phuket Hokkien heritage cooking in a 110-year-old shophouse. Avoid Thursday, when it is closed, and arrive in time for last order at 20:30.
Plates are small, so order several to share. Include the pineapple salad, a national Best Local Food winner, and the chicken massaman, the curry guests name.
Save Local Canteen for an evening or a weekend: it opens 4PM-12AM Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri and 12-11PM Sat-Sun, and is closed on Wednesday. The wok kitchen reworks old-school Thai dishes, and the wine list runs to low-intervention bottles. Look elsewhere for a weekday lunch.
For a pork-free, halal-friendly meal, NumNum Old Town is the pick, with Turkish breakfast, mezze and sucuk beside Thai curries and noodles. Take a seat in the air-conditioned dining room or out in the covered garden. Hours are 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM, and it is closed Thursdays.
